About
Joshua Goodell is an American-Greek composer from Utah. He explores a wide variety of musical styles; however, his passion is strongly aligned with the Neo-Romantic tradition, with significant influences from the mid-to-late Romantic period. Despite experiencing hearing loss, this challenge has only deepened his musical drive. It has heightened his sensitivity to detail, expression, and qualities that are reflected in the emotional intensity of his work. His compositions have been performed across the country, and he has collaborated with dancers and filmmakers around the world. He continues to work with artists across disciplines, and welcomes new opportunities.
He studied composition at the University of Utah for both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. While at the University of Utah, he taught music theory and aural skills courses, which furthered his passion for teaching and writing music.
Currently, Joshua is transcribing popular piano concertos into smaller ensembles for piano students, while also maintaining a private studio of composition students.
